Responsible Growth Coalition (RGC) is a grass roots organization that started in early 2015 when a few local South Park residents got together to discuss the potential impact that a proposed Tribal Trail Connector, routed through Jackson Hole, Wyoming’s most dense school zone, would have on the safety of our children. Other residents spoke up about ways in which this new road would negatively impact the community’s rural character and the abundant wildlife migration corridors in the South Park area. We eventually formed the RGC, a Wyoming 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, to raise public awareness about transportation planning issues and insure the community’s voice is heard to protect what makes this valley special and unique. While the proposed Integrated Transportation Plan was under consideration, RGC played a key role in securing certain Plan revisions that made clear that traffic modeling would be conducted before any new roads were planned; any proposed Tribal Trails Connector would be designed only as a local road for residents that guaranteed the safety of our children going to and from school, and not be a bypass between WY 22 and US 89; and a robust project charter would be developed for every proposed new or improved road that would include meaningful consideration of alternatives. RGC has no paid staff and thrives through volunteer efforts. We welcome anyone interested to join us and actively participate in RGC.
